Not only does the gloss smell good, it also goes on super easy and smooth. The best part is how long it stays on, I thought I had the best long lasting lip gloss, but this one is giving that one a run for the money.

When it first goes on it feels like you put nothing on your lips. I actually put a second, unneeded, layer on because it didn’t feel like any gloss came out.

Take a look at the video and you’ll note that this incredible pink lip gloss added a very high gloss to my lips. At first I thought the gloss was glittery, and it does have some glitter effect, but its very subtle. The shine is very direct. In the video you can see me rubbing my lips, I’m actually rubbing quite hard and the lip gloss is not coming off after four tries. I’m seriously considering changing my best long lasting lip gloss to this, but it has such a pretty pink color, I think it belongs in the best pink lip gloss file.

The only downfall of this lip gloss is that it feels a bit greasy and doesn’t taste spectacular. However it has a lovely berry smell and really glosses up your lips.

There are other colors available and I think this gloss for sixteen bucks is a particularly well spent investment.

When I used it over the lipstick, it not only added shine, it didn’t overtake the color of the lipstick. Sometimes when you add a gloss the color starts bleeding from the lipstick to the gloss, but I didn’t get any of that with this gloss. It simple added a glassy shine over my lips.

The Best Pink Lip Gloss

The bottom line is this gloss is sticky, but then again so are every other long lasting lip gloss (that actually lasted longer than 15 minutes) is sticky. Of the six brands I tried ( I don’t name and shame here unless a gloss outright lies), this is the only one which I can strongly recommend for the best long lasting lip gloss.

I have to warn readers, as I usually do, that this gloss has some negatives.

Consistency – Its sticky sticky sticky. But as I’ve said, you have to expect that when you buy a gloss. (More on what I recommend below). If you have long hair, like me, look out. It’ll get stuck. I wore it for a few hours and it didn’t dry, so I had to remove it (or face the consequence of red hair marks on my white clothes). This goes on thick.

Color – This gloss has a lot of color. I prefer light glosses, but quite honestly that’s personal choice. You may prefer a darker colored gloss. Its very rich in color. Don’t expect to put this over a colored lipstick.

Application- if you hate putting anything on your fingers, you won’t like this gloss at all. But readers of my other reviews know that I love gloss which you apply with a brush or your fingers better than I like a gloss that has an applicator. Taste and smell- This stuff tastes like formaldehyde. Seriously it does not have a good flavor. And I’m all about flavor. Probably because I lick my lips 100 times a day. If taste is as big a factor for you as it is for me, stay away from this gloss. The smell isn’t quite so gross, but does smell a little .. chemically.

That’s it for the negatives. Here are the positives, and there are some great positives.

Stay Power – I wore this for hours, through eating and drinking, even 30 minutes of exercise (though it waned a bit after that). It lasted through it all. Like I said above, its sticky, so it was uncomfortable in a lot of those places and it did leave marks on my glass, but it still lasted, and is what we’re after, right?

Shine- For a long lasting lip gloss I wasn’t expecting much, but I was surprised by the shine on this gloss. Very shiny and actually very pretty too. I’d give it a 4/5 for shine.

Color- I know that I wrote color in the negative section as well, but I feel some positive things should be said about colored gloss. This has a really nice rich color, not great for all complexions but quite pretty. There are other colors available, but for some reason I couldn’t find a clear gloss. Oh well there might be one if you still want to use this brand after this review.

The bottom line is you cannot have great long lasting lip gloss, while having great flavor and texture. But what this gloss delivers is great long lasting shine, which can be equally important.

I realize some people may be wondering why I don’t review the price. I’m gonna answer this with a question back at the reader: What are you willing to pay for what you want? And your answer is a better review of the cost than my opinion.

For my money NARS Lip Lacquer gets the vote of best long lasting lip gloss.

Friends and family have a unique perspective on what makeup they wear. They are usually loyal to one brand as well, which gives them a narrow, but comprehensive view on which products they use. Everybody has their favorites, which means they’ve tested what they like a really long time, so they probably have a really good idea of what they like and what they don’t like. Maybe they even told you how much they love their gloss. When a friend says “I have the best lip gloss ever.”, it might encourage you to go out and buy a lip gloss, but that lip gloss might not be right for you. Unless they loan you the gloss, you can only go by what they say, and even then you haven’t tested it long enough to get a good idea of the glosses pluses or minuses. The next time a friend or family member recommends a lip gloss, asking the right questions, or to borrow the gloss for a period of time, may save you the trouble of buying a gloss that isn’t suited to you.

Last week, my friend Liza was about to go on a date. I told her, of course, “Don’t forget your lip gloss”, and her reply kind of shocked me. She told me she never wore gloss on a date because “men don’t like it”. I told her my husband loves it when I wear gloss, especially one that tastes great, and perhaps she has just used the wrong gloss. I told her that the wrong gloss can taste bad, or smell strange, or feel greasy. No guy wants to kiss a girl with Vaseline lips. I recommended she try the Born Lippy from The Body Shop. I know that some women complain that Born Lippy line does not have an applicator, but that’s exactly why it’s perfect for kissing, besides the fact that it tastes awesome. When using a lip gloss that has no applicator, it’s easy to be precise when applying the gloss. So for shine you’d maybe use a thicker application, but for kissing you’d use just enough so your lips taste sweet. That is the kind of unique recommendation a friend can give.

So the next time a friend recommends a gloss, ask to borrow the gloss for a week or so, or ask why they specifically like that particular gloss. Be sure to ask probing questions, or you may miss the important aspects of the product that you won’t like. For example, it might be important to ask “How long does it last?”. You might find it useful to know if it rubs off easily, if it lasts through smoking and eating, what other colors are available, does it taste good after hours of use. These are questions that won’t be answered by borrowing the lip gloss just once.

Friends have great advice when it comes to choosing the best lip gloss, but be sure you ask all the right questions.

What I loved most about this lip gloss, before I even used it, was reading that it contained vitamin A and E, antioxidant vitamins the promote healthy, moist lips. And I liked what it that it didn’t contain; parabens (a type of preservative used in cosmetics) or Sulfates, which cause allergic reactions in some people.

The colors, and there are many many colors, were quite nice as well with, cutsey tootsey names and big buxom women pictured on the front of the tube. Some have glitter which are unlike the glitter flecked tweeny lip gloss brands. All in all very soft and unique colors and styles.

The gloss itself feels really good when you put it on. Literally it feels good a slight tingling, refreshing feeling you get from peppermint candies. It feels cold on your lips, which some people may not like, but I loved.

Bare Escentuals product claim for Buxom Lips is that it acts as a lip plumper, which I assumed made your lips look fuller. If they are meant to make your lips look fuller, it fell a little short. What I did find really awesome about Buxom Lips was the fact that it did make the wrinkles on my lips less noticeable and I’d rather have that than fuller lips. Maybe thats what they mean by plumper .

I can safely recommend Buxom Lips line from Bare Escentuals as the best lip gloss for wrinkle-less lips and for the color choices it offers.

The bottom line isBare Escentuals Buxom Lips is a great lip gloss color, sheen, application, but not quite the plumper it claims.

Lip gloss should be worn for one reason and one reason only:  to get your man to want his lips on yours! That’s this girl’s opinion, until now.

When I found Urban Decay’s magnificent lip gloss in a “sweet crème brûlée flavor” with the bonus of naked men to view, well it crèmed my brûlée for sure!

While the flavors are all the same, the colors vary and so do the men! Now that’s what I call the best lip gloss!

David – Milky Mauve – “David is a hard-working man: at work, in the gym, and most importantly, in bed” is seen in a suit and tighty whities and oh how tighty. My oh my.

Eric – sheer true red – dressed in a tuxedo and tuxedo boxer-briefs. Be still my Orlando Bloom lovin heart.

Jesse – blackberry w/ warm sparkle .. Think a yummy Axle Rose with a buffer bod and abs you want to sink your teeth into. Suddenly I feel like blackberries!

Kirk – sheer nude -Tighty whities in green and I have no idea what he looks like with clothes on because I refuse to look when he’s dressed. Sheer nude- I wish!

Doug – medium pink w/ iridescent – when writing this article I almost forgot to Doug’s name in. When you’re done drooling over his abs let me know. I’ve used all my bandwidth for one day on his picture alone.

Julio – white w/ iridescent sparkle -”Is there anything hotter than a hot guy holding a baby?” Yes.. a hot guy without the baby blocking my view!!!

James – hot pink w/ ultraviolet glow – the emo boyz aren’t really my style but I still looked.. twice.

The Body Shop’s Born Lippy Lip Balm products were the very first Body Shop products I had ever bought. Of course I went back and bought pretty much everything else there including eyeliner, foundation, powder and on and on, but the lip gloss was my favorite. Tastes great – Since I lick my lips, and kiss my husband, a lot I notice the flavor of lip gloss. The best lip gloss has a tolerable flavor, Born Lippy has a great flavor.
Smells incredible – I love the frity flavor smell of the berry Born Lippy glosses best, but the mint gloss has a lovely fresh smell.

Nice sheen – the gloss effect is very subtle and light. There is no color just a soft sheen and the gloss doesn’t feel heavy or greasy.

Environmentally friendly packaging: While most customers do not take advantage of the refill policy that attracted me to the Body Shop in the first place, I believe the fact Born Lippy is in environmentally friendly packaging makes it the best lip gloss on the market.

Positive humanitarian and global policy advocate – The Body Shop sends a strong and important message through its global and humanitarian advocacy policies. The Body Shop lobbies extensively for their causes: Protect Our Planet, Defend Human Rights, Support Community Trade, Activate Self Esteem and Against Animal Testing.

Cons:

Refillable container – The need to use my finger in the container confines this particular gloss to casual social engagements or nights at home. I sometimes use a lip brush if its just dinner with me and my husband out, but I tend to use an applicator brand for business or non-casual social engagements.
