Narrowing down the best lip gloss is a difficult task, however, considering my collection of glosses, narrowing the search down to a select few is not impossible.
When purchasing lip gloss there are important factors to consider among the most important are stickiness, glossiness, staying power, taste, smell, application and greasiness.
The stickiness factor concerns how the lip gloss feels on your lips. Does your hair get caught and covered in gloss when it brushes against your lips. There is nothing more frustrating than wearing a white blouse and having your gloss stick to your hair and then wipe off on your blouse. Most glosses have a large stickiness factor but are still worth buying for other reasons.
While the label does say “gloss” it doesn’t necessarily need to look like you have a three inch thick plate of newly Windex-ed glass on your lips. The best lip gloss has a gloss effect which is both appealing and subtle.
There seems to be a lack of lip gloss with staying power. Even my favorite best tasting gloss and best gloss for kissing gloss needs to be applied several times after kissing or eating. (although if I’m honest I do tend to eat it off *blush*, which brings us to our next factor)
The taste of lip gloss is one of the most important factors, in my opinion. Your gloss is constantly on your tongue as you eat or kiss someone or even lick your lips. When a lip gloss tastes like chemicals its not appealing to put on your lips. While a lip gloss does not have to be flavored, it should not taste like a chemistry factory!
The smell of a lip gloss varies in importance to most women. Lip gloss flavor and smell usually goes hand in hand. One of my favorite brands, Born Lippy from the Body Shop, smells delicious and, in my opinion, is the best lip gloss for kissing. It smells wonderful. There is lip gloss which has no smell, I generally don’t choose those glosses.
There are many different applicators for applying lip gloss. Each woman has a preference and I will discuss applicators as they might affect a purchase decision. For instance the gloss I keep talking about, Born Lippy, has a negative factor: no applicator. I choose to buy it because, for me, the taste, smell and brand name are worth it, even if I get my finger a little sticky.
How greasy a lip gloss is will directly affect every review. Greasy gloss (try saying that 10 times) is unappealing and will definitely be noted in my lip gloss reviews.
Colors are part of some lip gloss and while some women wear gloss for color, many women like clear lip gloss to use over their lipstick.
What makes the best lip gloss has the kissable factor. When I wear lip gloss its because I want my lips sexy, shiny and vibrant.
